Where are we going? What is our destiny?
In its spring concerts on June 8 and 10, the Santa Cruz Chorale will explore the themes of fate and destiny in lyrical and evocative works by 19th, 20th and 21st century composers. The concerts will include such pieces as Brahms' Nenia and Schicksalslied; Beethoven's Elegischer Gesang; two songs by Samuel Barber: Sure On This Shining Night, and Let Down the Bars, O Death; Amor de Mi Alma by Z. Randall Stroope; They That Mourn by Kirke Mechem; and Lord, Let Me Know Mine End by Charles Parry, which features two choirs.
The music for the Chorale’s June concerts is beautiful and powerful, varied and uplifting. Artistic Director Christian Grube has assembled a program that is sure to resonate with audiences through its lyricism and artistic treatment of love, loss and uncertainty.
